John 5

This coming Friday, all Koinoina will be together for TFN! It seems like such a long time ago since we were all together, so it’ll be great to meet as one big happy group.

We’ll be meeting at 7pm this Friday at the First Pres Church Gym!

Afterwards, we’ll continue with our practices for Thanksgiving Celebration – it’s only 3 weeks away!

This past Friday, all the Koinonia sophomores and juniors were combined for a special talk on why Truth Matters. We also had SFSU Koinonia join us for this special talk!

We started off with dinner at Dwinelle courtyard, where we were able to meet and mingle with the SFSU Koinonia people. After eating, we crammed into 145 Dwinelle and had a game of telephone!

What are you trying to say??

What are you trying to say??

The sentence went something like “I woke up at the crack of dawn and tried to put on my shoes, but I had no shoes”. The sentences ended up being something like “I had no shoes”, “I had a crack in my shoes”, and something ridiculous like “My shoes smell really bad”.

After that hilarious time of fun, Ray gave a talk on the different “-isms” that people have come up with in the past to explain truth: naturalism, empiricism, skepticism, foundationalism, and post-modernism.

In the end, he challenged us to all seek the truth because these 5 “-isms” fail at showing what truth is.

Afterwords we headed over to BT for some games, ice cream sundaes and TC practice! We had games of group charades, and a ridiculous game where you had to blow cups off of a table, using a balloon!

This is ridiculous

This is ridiculous

If that wasn’t ridiculous or hilarious enough, we watched some of the old TC skits and were shocked to see people rapping, dancing, and going all out in performing. After being inspired by those old TCs, we started practicing for our TC this year! The staff demonstrated the moves to our last song for us…

and then it was our turn!

If you want to find out what our TC skit is going to be this year….come join us for TC practice next Friday!

We ended the night with this group picture with SFSU! Apparently we had so many people that we couldn’t all fit into one photo…so use your imagination and pretend these two photos were one!

Join us next week at BT!

This Friday, the frosh and seniors will be going up to Sierra Lodge! If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late! You can still sign up here.

The sophomores and juniors will have for TFN a special talk at 7:30pm in 145 Dwinelle. We’ll be discussing the topic of truth. Is there such thing as absolute truth, or is truth merely relative?

Afterwords, we’ll head to BT (Buffet Town) for a fun time of snacks and games, followed by TC (Thanksgiving Celebration) practice! TC is a yearly celebration where our whole church displays its talents (or lack of) on stage, followed by an-out Thanksgiving feast. It’s a hilarious time of fun and food! Don’t miss it!

Do All Roads Lead to God

For this Friday’s TFN, we’re going to be having a special talk! We’re going to be discussing a big and important question – whether all religions lead to God. Please join us this Friday, at 7pm, at Buffet Town to learn more! To top it all off, we’re going to have free sundaes, too!

During last week’s split Bible Study, Kevan&Jenny’s sophomores and juniors combined with Ander&Myra’s and had an awesome time. The brothers and sisters of went our separate ways, but not to say that either path was not fun. Here’s what went down:

The sisters decided to have a fun night to themselves by cooking up a storm with some delicious bibimbap at the Hillegass Apartments. Then they broke some ice by playing a fun game called “the story of my life” where each of the sisters drew one another’s faces. Then everyone tried to guess who was who. But as if that wasn’t hard enough everyone had to draw with their non-dominant hand. Just think of how crazy the drawings must’ve turned out!

On the brother’s side, the two classes split up for some peer bonding time. The sophomores brought out their game faces and played some football! There were many crazy plays, sad misses/fumbles, but also great defensive interceptions. Afterwards we gathered around for some fun q&a about ourselves and delicious Costco pizza. Did I also mention night frisbee? That’s right, the sophomores ended the night with some wild night frisbee before heading over to Buffet Town for The Friday Night. The juniors, on the other hand, went all out on food and conversations. They left no room for the games and brought out a grill and cheesesteaks. They all gathered around with their delicious, juicy, cheesy, right-of-the-grill, homemade cheesesteak sandwiches in pure darkness for their fun night.

OH yea! It’s the Choi Band!

The split Bible Study was held at our very own Buffet Town and ended with some great small group sharing time.

I apologize for the lack of photos. Our classes were too busy having fun, so I gave you all a nice, lengthy description so you can imagine just what happened.
