Need Advice for my Major!

Picking classes can be a stressful time, whether you’re a freshmen or a senior, whether you’re an MCB major or an EECS major. And even if you pick the right class, you’ll find out soon enough that the right professor can make or break a course. In order to navigate through the myriad options, wouldn’t it be great to be [...]

About Koinonia

Koinonia meets weekly to study the bible and hear out God’s perspective. We talk, discuss & ask questions to arrive at answers as we investigate and discover God’s purpose for you and me. Along the way we also hang out, eat good food, study really hard, and “do life” together. After all, sometimes being students on campus runs us through its gamut of ups and downs - thrills, boredom, loneliness, anxiety, or struggling to fit in somewhere - but the upside is that we do it together as we build a community of faith around the love of God.

So curious what Koinonia means? Its Greek for “fellowship” & that’s what we’re all about. Get a glimpse into our community by checking out our homegroups or plugging into a smallgroup!

Student Council

The Koinonia Council:
President: Sang Chung
Vice President: Tommy Chiu
Secretary: Vivian Lee
Treasurer: Editha Setiawan
Clerk: Sean Wakimoto
UIC Rep: Robin Chang

We’re the Koinonia Council and we’re here to serve you! We reserve rooms, help plan activities (like New Student Welcome Night), represent our group to the Office of Student Life and other campus groups, and a whole lot more. Send us an email… and we’ll see you at Koinonia!

Our Speaker

Pastor Ed Kang

Meet Koinonia’s guest speaker: Pastor Ed Kang! Graduated from UC Berkeley, Class of ‘85, and Boalt Law School, he eventually left his law career to become the pastor of Gracepoint Fellowship Church. For more than two decades, he has been ministering to college students, and delivering intelligent and relevant messages.

Pastor Ed’s wife, Kelly Kang, is every bit his match and complement. After working ten years as a software engineer in the Bay Area, she joined her husband in full-time ministry to more fully employ her gifts and passion to serve others. Together, Pastor Ed and Kelly Kang form a dynamic ministry duo.

Our Alumni Advisors

Steve and Suzanne are both Cal alumnis (Class of ‘94) and have been advising and mentoring Cal students in our Christian fellowship for the past 15 years. You can typically catch Steve working in his office at Wurster Hall or hanging out at Strada during his breaks talking to some college students or Suzanne having office hours at the YWCA. If you have any questions about our group or just want to talk, just shoot them an email or give them a call!

Homegroups

Homegroups

Koinonia’s a big place. “How am I supposed to find my way around?” Koinonia’s broken up into homegroups and smallgroups so it’s a little easier to connect to people. Check out our homegroups and find out what they’re all about, and get plugged into a smallgroup!
