Sophomore Sierra Lodge Trip!

Last weekend, were you wondering why it was so quiet everywhere? Its cause all the sophomores spent a whole weekend up at Sierra Lodge! We left Friday night all excited and looking forward to a great weekend. It was definitely a quite needed break for many of us. And the fun started right when we got there! We started off with shooting some hoops, and even a student vs. staff full-court game of basketball! What was the result? Let’s just say the students were full of energy (:

Not only that, but we also played a group game of store! For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s just like king kong shower magnified with groups!

Here’s the Asian Ghetto group showing off their “ghetto” moves
After that, we hit the sack and called it a night so that we would have plenty of energy the next day to go to Lake Spaulding! The next morning, we got all packed up and started headed out for the lake. But before that, we had bible study. We dove into the DT text for that week, 1 Corinthians 1-4, and gleaned much insight from the text about being unified in Christ and preventing divisions in the church, as well as much more! There’s so much you can get out of a couple chapters of text, and let’s just say we definitely bonded through our sharings and came together as a sophomore class (:
And then we headed off to the lake! There we spent the day chatting, skipping rocks, splashing each other, and of course, kayaking!

What a beautiful view it was!
And what kayaking trip would it be without a little race? We had a giant race with four teams, Koinonia sophomores, Koinonia staff, A2F sophomores, and A2F staff since we were sharing the space with A2F.

And off they go!
The result? Let’s just say that the Koin Sophomores tried their best. Although we may not have won, we definitely enjoyed watching our teammates capsize 4 times! Definitely a memory making moment where we’ll look back and laugh!
And of course, what trip would be complete without dunking out peers into the water?

Isaac the unfortunate victim, although he looks quite happy to be dunked
After we got all packed up and left the lake, we went on two very short hikes. But the view was beautiful! And of course, we took photos!

Pondering life’s purpose
After that we came back to the lodge for a nice steak dinner and a night full of group games!

Yum!

Taboo! The different facial expressions tell all.
And of course, out of tradition, we even had a king kong shower tournament! But of course, what Sierra Lodge trip would be complete without campfire? As we sat around the fire eating s’mores, we shared many of our favorite songs and shared stories about how God rescued us and from what. It was quite the bonding experience!

And the next morning we came back home, full of fun memories and refreshed to go back to studying. Join us next time!
